Independent. Thorough. Evidence-focused.

Lewis Legal Ltd was founded by Mike Naughton and has provided specialist private investigation and expert witness services continuously since August 2008 — 18 years of dedicated work supporting individuals and families affected by the criminal justice system.

We focus particularly on cases involving false allegations and suspected miscarriages of justice. Our work includes full case analysis, locating and interviewing witnesses, examining police and defence failures, and preparing detailed expert reports for use in appeals and applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC).

Our approach is simple: examine the evidence properly, report the findings clearly, and remain completely independent. We do not take sides. We follow the evidence.

Background & Experience

Mike Naughton’s investigative career is built on a strong practical foundation. Before founding Lewis Legal Ltd he served in the Royal Air Force as a telegraphist for 10½ years, a role that required exceptional listening skills and the ability to extract clear information from difficult radio communications. He later worked as a surveillance contractor with North Wales Police Public Protection Unit and as a Special Constable.

This combination of military discipline, police-related experience, and 18 years of full-time private investigation work underpins every case we take on.
